Rat snake?

Torns

New member
I caught this on a walk by a stream today.

I'm having trouble figuring out the breed; Rat snake maybe?

Thank you for your help!

That's correct, the very keeled scales and body shape and head are definitely water snake of some sort.

Pity

Thank you for helping me identify the snake!

Nope, no musk smell but it could be a coincidence. This species will be a bit too much work to care for properly so I will be letting it go right where I caught it. It deserves better then I can give it since my setups and experience aren't with this type of snake (water).

Thanks again all!
