Rattling Cornsnake

I have a baby corn and for some reason is makes a rattling noise. When we go to get her out of her cage she'll cock back as if she is going to strike and if that doesn't work she'll shake her tail quickly back and forth for a few seconds. It's really weird though because when she does this it makes a vibrating sound when she touches something. I was wondering if anybody has ever noticed this before in their corns or heard of it. I know certain snakes imitate rattle snakes by doing the exact same thing. She is obviously using this as a defense but it still seems strange. Not only does her tail vibrate but when she is in her defense mode she emits a strange scent that doesn't smell like urine.

most baby corn do the tail rattle to try and scare you because they are afraid. it is not uncommon in young corns as you are bigger and they see you as a predator.

I think it is a common thing. I have a Normal Female ( Rusty) that I got as a Sub Adult and the first time she did this it totally freaked me out. It still does.
I have since gotten a few more that did the same thing but they have calmed down alot.
Jimmy C. Just give it time.

Yes, my new one rattles

Since I'd never heard such a sound from my first corn (she's so mellow) it was quite a surprise to hear my new little amel rattle away the first time I tried to lift her out of the tank to feed her! I'm not used to having a fiesty one!
