Ideally you want to see a shed that's in one piece. A shed like yours can be caused by low humidity. A humid hide will help if that's the problem. I think I read that this snake had mites and you treated for them. Parasites can also be a cause for bad sheds. Hopefully her next shed will be a better one:)

This is what a one piece shed looks like:

Lady Nitro,

I definitely agree with Alicia on the humidity. Just out of curiosity, are you using a heat lamp and/or an open top glass tank? Both tend to contribute to lowered humidity.

here is a pic of her viv for now......

i have a mini heat pad underneath.
and i mist it once a day for her...

you can kind of see her in her hide..
i do have a 10gallon i have fish in there still which i'll be putting them else where then that will be her home untill she get's bigger....

alicia...yes she did have mites but now gone...

sometimes i think she get's tooo much heat because i usually have her on a sub box next to the heat vent in ore apartment.. but right now she's in the kitchen. we're supposed to get new windows and patio doors and i didnt want her to get cold when they started to do that. i still have alot to learn about these little guys..

Greetings,

I live in Alaska where the air is extremely dry during the winter months. It's for this reason that we use large (wide) water bowls for our Corns. The greater surface area helps to increase humidity. Also, we place the bowls partially on the heat pad to increase humidity. When our critter start their shed, or when we notice their eyes go blue, we add a second water dish to the warm side and lightly mist their cages twice a day. Even doing all that we sometimes get a tail tip that doesn't properly slough off.

I also recommend you head down to a hardware store and purchase an indoor/outdoor thermometer. They cost as little as $10.00 (USD) and do a good job of measuring cage temps. We try to check our temps once a week.

Good luck!

Cheers,
Jason
