recognition?

I have my adult corn for over a year now. Sometimes I see behavior that makes me wonder if she recognises me or don't. Most of the people I have spoken to said these things are pure coincedence(< how do you spell that?).

Sometimes she has a bit of a 'bad day', she is then in a bit of a foul mood, and when I come into her cage/tank she may bite. The day after, when I clean the water, she always comes to me and smells at my hand. Sometimes she touches me with her nose.
When I get her out, my mother wants to hold her, and I give the snake to mum. The snake then always gets as quick as possible back to me, as if she doesn't like my mother. Same thing goes for my brother and father.

When I was on holiday, my brother had to clean the water(I was with mum and dad, my brother didn't want to come.) One day he called us, and said the snake had coiled around his wrist. (She didn't constrict.) Normally she never does that. She takes a look, or just keeps lying wherever she is lying.
When I came back from holiday, I immeadiatly took a look at her tank, and she came out of her cave to take a look at me. She watched me for nearly ten minutes, and then retreated.

Sometimes I open the door of the cage/tank and wait if she wants to come out to investigate. When I am a bit further away, she always comes out and takes a good look around. When I am in front of the cage/tank however(I sit then on my bed, the tank is in my bedchamber) she comes partly out, touches me with her nose and then retreats.

Anyone got an explanation for this all?

I'm sure that Corns get to recognise the person who usually handles and feeds them, and then expresses a preference for being picked up by them.

It's not to do with "being fond" of them or bonding as a cat or dog would do. It's just that the person they know, is known to be safe. Strangers or people they don't have much contact with, are still a potential threat.

Plus the person who handles snakes, and that particular snake, all the time knows how to handle it comfortably, which the snake can feel, so it relaxes with the familiar person.

thanks for your answers

(@ Bitsy, Yeah I didn't think snakes can be 'fond' of anyone, was just wondering at her behavior *shrugs* thanks anyway :p)

What we do is have a hand sanitizer bottle right next to the cage. Before touching our snake, the person must put use the sanitizer first. I think our snake will begin to recognize the smell rather than our hand.
