My snake is a Creamsicle. I've had her since the seventh of last month and am wondering how to recognize when she is going to shed as I've read that it is difficult to tell in snakes of this color.
She'll look pale or milky first, especially the eyes.
After that she'll clear up and might look almost normal, a few days after that she'll shed(varies).
Thanks.
Another question, she has two small areas of scales near her tail that look like a ridge. I looked up mites and it looks nothing like that. Can this be related to shedding or is it likely that there is something more going on here?
The whole snake. She is actually quite a bit dull compared to her usual bright color. The picture makes her look darker than in reality. She is also quite "lazy". I don't know whether this is a possible illness or just a shed. I did set her in some semi-warm water for a few minutes today. http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=2gxprpi&s=5

I have a creamsicle too, and it is a little more difficult to tell when they are young, but when they are older you can see the difference clearly (see pics)
I can see what you mean about the ridge in that second picture but I'm afraid I've never seen anything like that before so I can't help. I'm sure it is nothing to worry about, but if anyone on here has seen it before you can be sure they will let you know
