Regurge! :(

Hey guys,

My hypo lavender corn is a little over 7 months old and he's been doing really great up until now. I had been feeding him one fuzzy a week until this week and had noticed that they weren't leaving a bump anymore a day after he ate. I decided to try feeding him two fuzzies this past Thursday and today when I woke up he had regurgitated one of them. His temps are good, there's a gradient of 75-83°F and his humidity is at a constant 45%. I ordered nutribac and I'm putting him on regurge protocol immediately. My question is regarding the size of mouse to feed him in 7-10 days. Obviously I won't be feeding him 2 fuzzies again, but should my next offering be just one fuzzy like he had been eating before or should I go down to a pinky for a week? Love the little guy and I don't want to do anything to make this worse. Any help would be appreciated.

Go down to a pinky, or if that isn't convenient because what is in your freezer now is fuzzies, you can give a fuzzy head. Cutting it while it is frozen makes almost no mess.

Do you have any idea what his weight is? I think 2 fuzzies sounds like a lot for a 7 month old, but snakes vary so much in their growth rate. Depending on the size of fuzzies you have, that meal could have been as much as about 15 grams or so, and some of the smaller "adult" mice (probably really weanlings, but they are sold under the label adult mice in many places as soon as they are weaned) are about that big.

Once you are sure he is fully recovered from the regurge and you are ready to try increasing his meal to something more than a single fuzzy again, you might try 1 1/2 fuzzies if it isn't convenient to feed a hopper. Another good thing to do when moving up in sizes is to slice open the skin, which helps the digestive juices penetrate so digestion happens faster.

I don't have any idea of his weight but I will be getting a digital scale this week and will definitely refer to the Munson plan in the future. Thank you both for the advise! :)

The good news is that he seems completely fine ever since. He's been behaving the same as he always has so I'm taking that as a good sign.
