Regurge

My 11 month old snake has been happily eating fuzzies for about 6 weeks now. Tonight he regurged one he had eaten about 3/4 days ago. He seems otherwise fine. My son was handling him at the time and he got himself worried that the snake is "ill". Whilst I know regurges are not a good thing per se, I was of the view that they are not in themselves harmful. What should I do about this? Is it something to worry about? He has just shed so must have been fed when grey of skin. Could this be a factor or was it simply that he was handled before he had a chance to digest properly?
Thanks

As far as I know the recommended time for not handling is 2 days, so 3-4 should be ok. Maybe your son was a little rough with him?
Remember to not try to feed for 10 days, if you try too often the snake will get used to being offered regularly and get used to refusing regularly.
Check your temps just in case. And lastly was the size too big? 1.5 times the width of the snakes largest part, is more than enough for snakey.
Hope this helps. You may want to try the search button to see if any past posts have any good info. :)

What did the regurge look like ? was it half digested ? because after 3-4 days there shouldnt have been a lot left to throw up.
If he hasnt digested the food properley it may be a good idea to slit the fuzzy a couple of times with a knife as its the skin which is the hardest part to digest, I used this method when I moved up to fuzzies from pinkies.
I have also read that by rolling the fuzzy between your fingers to break up the bones also helps the digestion process, although I have never put that into practice. (please roll before slitting or it could get messy :) )

What are your temps? If the if he had a mouse in his stomach after 3-4 days it could mean your temps are to low and he's not digesting properly.

Thanks all
I will check his temps - make sure my daughter has not somehow turned the heat mat off. Mind you it has been hot here recently so maybe it was the opposite.

If temps are too high, you will usually see a more rapid regurge. Say within a day or two, not three or four. Definitely make sure you wait at least 10 days, and go with a smaller food item for 2 to 3 feedings and then go back to your normal size. You want to give the stomach a chance to rebuild the acids and such before attempting to feed again.

Well gave him a small pinky yesterday and so far so good. He looks and seems very happy and active and healthy so fingers crossed....thanks all.

If he was in blue at the time that could have been a factor.. although he more likley just would have not accepted the meal.

One regurg probably won't harm your snake too much, but a regurge can be potentially life threatening.. sometimes it can be hard to get them to eat sucessfully again.
Follow Mr. Dan's advice, and if he doesn't accept that meal don't try feeding him again for another week or so.

Good luck, hope he doesn't have any more problems
