Reptarium mesh screen with liner base?

trabern

Prospective snake owner
Anyone have experience or pros/cons of using the new Reptarium mesh screen terrariums for snakes? Here's one link:

http://lllreptile.com/store/catalog...and-explorariums/-/38-gallon-basic-reptarium/

I was considering a couple of these, with the addition of the bottom liner (5" deep) sold separately, for my snakes when they get older and need more space. Right now they are fine in a 10 gal and a Eco Terra 18", both 05's.

Was concerned whether the mesh is too much air, or whether they are escape proof, and how well they work with liner+UTH.

Any input appreciated.

I haven't tried these but for the price of one of these you might be able to get the Critter cages, I got a couple from my local petshop at a good deal since they were on sale this month from the company. Give it a check.

My guess is that one wouldnt use that for a snake for one because you would not be able to maintain humidity in there, keeping heat in would be out, etc.

I've kept many different snakes in there at one point or another. They're not ideal for high-humidity snakes but they work great for corns. I had a few adults living in them for a while before we switched to our rack system (too much space wiht 10+ adults). I didn't use a UTH with them but you can use any traditional heating elements - I'd just put the UTH on a ceramic tile so it's easier to clean. Shouldn't melt the mesh because if it does it's too hot for your snake. I didn't have any problems with humidity or with keeping the heat in either. My problem was actually that the substrate got too hot (not as much material to transfer heat through). If you need any more info let me know.
