Reptile Data / Tools / Software

Just Another Corn Breeder
I started making a little tool on my website to calculate the amount of food I need to supply for my corn snake babies as they get sold off. It's not that cool yet, but here it is, http://www.cornsnakeforsale.com/calc.php . I was wondering if anyone had any data they wouldn't mind giving me a digital copy of so that I could estimate stuff with it. For example, how many small pinkies does it take to move them up to the next level. This way I can estimate how many of each size I would need to buy for a given time period. Any snake care or breeding data for large amounts of animals would be cool.

After thinking about that, I was wondering if there was a nice list out there somewhere of all the coolest tools and software available for free use to keep track of corn snakes or reptiles. More particularly for larger-scale keepers, but anything related would be good to know.

For example, http://www.corncalc.com/

Thanks!

Dont know anything about free, But I bought the Viper Reptile Tracking System a year ago. I only paid $15 or $20 for it. I just love that thing it keeps track of everything. You can go to there site http://www.talkradiosoftware.com/ and download a free demo if you do not know what I am talking about.

Wow, I wish there was a way to just give you a copy of my Degei data. But I can't even copy and paste it...

I like the Snake Measurer, just because it's cool how it works.

And I just find Genetic Gen Wizard the easiest morph calculator to use. (Look in the download section). I wish someone would write one for the iPhone. Marcel. Hint hint.

I use Degei for record keeping. I think it might be free now. I started out with the free version, and bought the paid version after I had too many records for the free version, but I think now it's free, anyway.

I rolled my own app after trying various free ones. There's some good stuff out there, but there was always something I would've liked done different, so finally just wrote my own. I did it for myself, but have no problem sharing with anyone that wants it.

I really wish there was an iPad app for tracking/record keeping.
Maybe I need to learn how to make one!

I was thinking just that (though for android). Easy touch app to enter data right there. Of course then there's the whole creating it part. Right now I track on paper then move to a spreadsheet. It's not so bad I guess.

An app for Android would be awesome, as I have a Android based phone and love it. I absolutely dispise ipods, ipads, iphones, etc... just dumb in my opinion. But awesome looking programs from what I can see. I'll have to wait a couple days till I git outta this hospital. (girlfriends in labour and has been some complications, but they are going down now that she's got her epidural.)

We just track using iherp.I have not kept accurate records for the raising of one corn though...great concept though!

I'm just interested in the whole concept of an android app. I use 'acar' for keeping records of my car. That way I don't have to have a computer nearby. Phone is more mobile lol

I've used pretty much every one of the programs mentioned here....and I like Degei for one specific reason. It will create a backup EVERY time you close it....which can easily be restored. I have a copy on my work computer, and several computers at home. If one gets messed up....I have NO problem restoring the data. I went from paper to computer about 2 years ago, and after manually entering about a years worth of records into another program, I lost it all. Now I'm paranoid I guess...:shrugs:

Hey I feel you there. I just lost almost 4 months of records. But if was from a computer crash and not the software. Now I save a back up everytime and on a flash drive as well.

Yeah I typically enter my feeding records at work, and back up on my thumb drive....then I can restore at home or wherever. It sounds complicated, but it's really important to me to know I will never lose records like that again....

I like free.

Here's a REALLY awesome program for simple data backups (like you're talking about), http://db.tt/dfuqxMy . It's called dropbox. Basically it's a folder on your computer that gets synchronized to their server as well as any other computer you want to use it on. I am constantly between my home computer, work computer and laptop for school. Whenever I make a change to any file in my dropbox it syncs to the other computers automatically. It's a real time saver and I highly recommend it. They even have an app for iphone (haven't looked for android, but I wouldn't doubt it).

Get it, really.

However iHerp is built, because i truly do not know, i know that i dont have to worry about backing up my own data. The site does it on its own.

http://www.iherp.com

Thats a free site/forum which will allow you to keep track of feeding/shedding/cleaning/pooping/medications/breeding projects etc etc... Free.

I use iHerp on my Android phone...on iHerp right now, actually.
I wish there was an actual app for it, but I can manage most of it from my phone. I cannot respond to messages or reply to posts/blogs from my phone, but I can manage my animals from my phone.

That's cool. I've got a tablet in the mail, so I might see about creating a little something. Or maybe I'll be lazy, we'll see.

Anyone else have any data they'd like to share?
