Hi to all
well i have a male amel corn and im now looking to find him a girlfriend !
I've been looking all over the place and came across a place kind of local to me and they have some Candy cane corns and was wondering if anyone out there has any pics of your own Candy cane corns.

Thanks very much

I thought I had a Candy.cane
It was labeled Candy.cane, but now I know she's in fact an Amelanistic.
(but she's nice :))

wow they are amazing snakes guys thanks for sharing , i do have some pics of tango ill try to find a good one

That's definitely not an amel ...

Amels have no black on them at all - amel is short for "amelanistic", meaning an absence of black pigment. You don't get good or bad amels, with less or more black pigment, as the very definition of an amel is no black whatsoever.

Your snake has bits of black on the borders, which is enough to show it's not an amel. But if you also look at the orange and red, see how they look quite dark compared to the orange and red in the other amel pictures shown? That's because the orange and red pigment is "hiding" under a thin layer of melanin.

He doesn't have as much black as some normals though, so he could well be either a nice bright normal, or even a hypo (hypo is short for hypomelanistic, which is "reduce black" - hypos can have more or less black, unlike amels who have none whatsoever).

Sorry I can't help with candycane pictures, but breeding that boy to a candy will only likely give you normals, possibly amels if he is het amel. I just wouldn't want you buying a candy mate for him and being disappointed or confused at the offspring!

Have a look at his belly. Does he have square black checkers, or does he have raggedy edges to the checks? If they're raggedy, I'd guess hypo. If they're proper square/rectangular, then I'd say normal.

i will see if i have any pics of his belly to show you , thanks so much for your post its good to here an honest answer to what type he is !

i dont belive it not a single belly pic !
thats not good ill have to take some !
what type of corn would you think would make an interesting mate for him?

I'd suggest a ghost. That way if he is a hypo you'd get hypos het anery. If he's a hypo het anery himself, you could get hypos and ghosts in the clutch.

HE is definately not an amel. I would say normal but his eyes look different like maybe a hypo.. DO you have any better pics showing his eyes without them being washed out by the flash?

no i need to get some more pics soon ill post as soon as i can ( he was fed yesterday so a few days time )

Whilst we are on the subject "Candy.cane"
Do you just breed two Amels together to get a candy.cane?
Or is there more to it?
