A ball python of mine has got RI and is being treated with antibiotics.. however I'm not sure if my cornsnake is displaying anything her head is always in the air but no funky breathing or mucous is it just a cornsnake thing.. I have been majorly cautious and took all sanatation to the extreme my ball python has been quarantined and nowhere near the others.. any advice would be great :) we changed the ball pythons to orchid bark and that's when the problem started I'm so upset.. please don't bash me..

Hello and welcome to the forum. It sounds like you are doing the right thing by quarantining the BP. As for an RI in the cornsnake, symptoms to look out for are discharge, gaping mouth, audible breathing....

If the rest of the behavior of the snake is normal - eating, drinking normally, hasn't lost any weight, I would just keep a close on on her. Also, is the raised head a new thing? Because that just might be normal snakey behavior. I assume you have a vet since the BP is on antibiotics, so if you get worried, you can always call them and talk to a vet if you want reassurance. IMO, it sounds like the corn snake is okay, but I am NO expert.

How is your humidity level for the corn snake? Too high humidity levels can contribute to an RI in a cornsnake.

Good luck and I hope your BP gets better soon! And I hope your cornsnake is not sick.

Humidity levels are ok just normal as I was told to just lightly mist now and again and my corn is on aspen shavings as orchid bark would have been to humid for her I just wish I never used the stuff for my pythons grr.. I'm not sure actually haha I'm hoping it's just a weird trait of hers atm as there is no popping or open mouth breathing.. all my other corns are ok to.. we have a big collection.. Il keep an eye on her for now and any change I will probably whip her to the vets.. she's feeding great drinking is OK and gaining weight I only noticed her tonight but she's quite active so not sure if it's just food she may want.. sorry for rambling and Thankyou for your advice :)

If your home humidity levels are normal, 40% to 60% there's no need to mist a corn snake.

If you provide a water dish of appropriate size, the snake will soak himself from time to time if he needs to or wants to. It should be "His" decision.

Spraying extra water into a corn snakes cage can make them sick unless you live in a desert dry type area.

I don't mist them everyday. Just now and again hardly ever really just if the humidity has dropped or which is very rare. they do have appropriate sized bowls to bathe in. I know over misting can make them sick.
