Rolling around

Ok well my corn snake is exhibiting some strange behavior and its got me a little worried. I picked him up last night and as soon as I did he started rolling his head over upside down and then started rubbing it on my palm. It almost like a crocodile's death roll. Kind of looks like this. Now I googled this problem already and most suggest mites, respiratory problem, or a retained shed. In any case it seems every case I found the snake eventually died so I'm hoping that doesn't happen to me. Now he doesn't look like he has mites, I mean I cant see any visible mites when I handle him. He doesn't seems to have any sort of labored breathing and his mouth and nose are clear, so I don't think it's an infection. He has been rubbing his nose on alot of things and rubbing the bottom of his head on things too so I think he may just be getting close to shedding but still the death rolling in my hands has made me very nervous. Any suggests as to the cause of the problem would be appreciated.

You could have him crawl through a damp white cloth to find any mites but sound like the beginning of a shed cycle.

Update: Handled him this morning and no rolling around. still no shed however after i put him back in his viv, he came up to the glass and rubbed his nose on it and I saw the skin on his nose start to come off a bit but he's just hiding and not shedding.

yeah I think it may just be the start to a shed but still after everything I've read and researched about corn snakes i've never heard of them rolling around like he did.

I've got a few "wilder" corns that will death roll. The Boot Keys will do it, and Penelope that hypo plasma that was on loan from zorro would.
