Nice, I have only seen 1 in the wild when I lived in California, Poway. It was in a rodent hole and I couldn't grab it. Once I touched the snake it went further down the whole. I didn't have anything to dig up the hard dry earth. :(

Something about those snakes I like but I have never owned one.

Very neat snakes!! I had a group of them, but I've chosen to go keep more corns.. But if i'd ever start to keep Boa-species again, it will be those!

This one was releashed again.. I took it farther out to the local mountain range.. Actually about a half mile or so from the road where I found it towards the mountains.. I think this one will be the big find for me this year! Would love to find a Sonoran King or two, but I don't ever get that far from home when I go herping...

nice find

where are you located in cali? im out in the Antelope Valley. the hard dirt is quite familiar. Yet ive never ever come across a rosy boa. its always the mojove green ,evil gophers ,or glossys. Once and a while a king but never the rosy boa!!!

The Barstow area... :wavey:

I will add I find Mojave's ( actually found a brown one recently ), side winders, glossy's, patch nose, shovel nose, long nose, coach whips, and gophers.. I have only found one Cali king, road kill, someone clipped the side of the head, and this little had a perfect balence of b&w bands I have ever seen, and all perfect bands too..

Regards.. Tim of T and J

First one I have found since I started road herping last spring.. I have found a lot of Mojaves, Sidewinders, and glossy's.. These are generally the ones I always find..

Regards.. Tim of T and J

First rosey catch.. No, first Rosey find yes.. I never keep any of the w/c.. I just take pictures and releash them, I have no intrest in upseting the deserts fragile eco system..

yea i have yet to find any of those other snakes out here. is there a particular habbitat you find those in. we generaly are just in regular old flat lands in the middle of know where. we have been finding alot more glossys this year though then any other

Heard they are great pets, I never see any offered for sale where I live. Do they bite when caught?

I used to live in Yucca Valley, CA. We caught them all the time and would keep them for a few days, and release. They are very gentle snakes, although I see them in shops I miss seeing them in the wild. susan

Barstow? dude I'm sorry for you ...lol.... you couldn't pay me to move back to California especially barstow....I used to live in antelope valley (Palmdale), as well as Sacramento, San Diego, and the central san Joaquin valley (Fresno) i used to catch cal kings on a nightly basis as well as western DB's and gophers....

I breed Rosies so anybody that wants one for a pet here i am!

Nice looking animal by the way!
