Rubbermaid w/ heat pads

Hola,

I'm getting Rubbermaid for my snakes and was wondering if the heat pads taped on the bottom would burn and if anyone has had sucess using them in this fashion

thanks in advance for any replys!!!!

Well....in my personal experience,
I don't use heat mats....
what I use is something very similar to heat mats

they're called
flexwatt heat tapes.

these are very nice to use and super easy to install.

if you are using heat mats or these heat tapes, remember to have a little gap between the mats/tape and the rubbermaid box. This is very important since without air circulation, the mat/tape could easily burn.
The gap doesn't have to be very big, but at least visualible...

Good Luck and Happy Herping!

My rubbermaid box hasn't melted or anything from the heat pad. But this heat pat doesn't get much hotter than 90. If your heat pad gets much much hotter like in the 100's you might want to get a dimmer or something to control the switch just to be safe.
Actually, I'd be more concerned about the corn than the Rubbermaid if a heat pad was hot enough to melt the plastic. :)

I have some experience with Heat pads... but only on 10 gal tanks... Im sure that the heat pads wont burn through the rubbermaid... but make sure that your heat pad isnt a very high voltage one just like Iris said becareful that your snake isnt going to be burnt just living in it... make sure there is a little gap from your heatmat and your rubbermaid... if there is no gap then all the heat will build up in one spot and turn that spot into like a stove and thats not good for your corn if it stays on it... well thats about it...
