Ruby eyed ghosts

Katt

Canadian Corn Fan
I have a 2005 ghost corn, that I purchased b/c the breeder had said, that her and her sister had stuck out from the ghost x ghost clutch b/c of the odd eyes and colour. Unfortunately, my camera died two weeks ago and I have not had it replaced and thus can not take a picture.

For a female ghost, she is very very light, as I find many female ghosts, are pretty dark, and can even be mistakened for an anery!

The iris is blue, but the pupil is ruby. Anything special, or will she grow up to be just a gorgeous ghost?

There are two known varieties of ghosts with ruby eyes.

Variety #1 is genotypically anery/anery hypoA/hypoA, or in other words, your average ghost but with a light pupil.

Variety #2 is genotypically anery/anery ultra/amel... an ultramel-based ghost if you will.

Since your snake was sold to you as a ruby-eyed ghost, I would wager she's Variety #1.

Er... also... from the description of the parents, unless the breeder made remarks about snows popping up in that clutch, there's pretty much a nil chance of your snake being an ultramel-based ghost.

I believe there were snows in the clutch, but I will confirm that as well as get a picture whenever I buy a camera to replace my one that died. She has bred the parents before and nothing like this has popped out, and there were two that looked the same, but different from the rest.

I've got another question, has anyone ever seen a snow with black speckles instead of red?

As for the snake in my avatar, it isn't a corn, it is a hybrid between a ghost corn het amel x a baird's ratsnake. My own freak creation.

So that beautiful snake that is white, grey, black, and brown in the pic is a ghost het amel x baird's ratsnake???? WOW the color that little feller has...that is gonna be one B-E-A----U-TIFUL snake!!! :wavey: Anymore pics? Or where I could find a ghost het amel x baird's ratsnake?

I remember when Katt posted them on ssnakess. It would be very cool to see an update on the little guys, seeing as how bairdi go through a pretty dramatic color change.

I have some older photos, but none that show how gorgeous that guy has gotten. Only he has turned out super nice and I'm guessing he's hypo, however, the rest did not attain his awesome colouration.

Hmm, seems I can't find any pics of the male, and unfortunately, I have no camera for a few weeks time. Blah!

I will post some updated pics when I get a camera.
