Russell's Viper venom collecting

Yeah, it is a cool video. However, I don't see him as any different then any other person on TV trying to be a showman. I've seen his shows and am not really impressed. It's probably just me, but I for once would like to see a show where the person isn't out to impress, but to truly inform.

Yeah, I kind of see what you're saying, Nancy...but at the same time, if one has to make a living, what a cool way to do it! That said...it wouldn't be MY first choice. Did you see the fangs on that beast??? I couldn't believe how much venom he got from one snake.

Is he collecting for medical use? There are some blood tests that employ Russells Viper venom.

Edit: (I love my shineh!) I can't get the video to work so I haven't seen it, that's why I ask this question.

For antivenin creation. Sri Lankan and Indian vipers are different, evidently, and no antivenin has been developed for the Sri Lankan species of viper...according to the video...

I don't think your average Joe would watch a purely informational show about herps. Every show on TV these days, of any subject matter, has to impress to keep viewers coming back. Blame it on our short attention spans...

That's because too much of the population still thinks that bull snakes and rattle snakes are crossbreeding on purpose so they can attack us in our sleep, that coachwhips will chase you down and whip you to death with their tails, milks snakes will seperate a mother from suckling child, put their tails in the baby's mouth and suckle from the mother, and that anything without legs must be deadly...

And anytime you offer a piece of factual information to counter their claims, they tell you that you're wrong because their grand-daddy seen it happen.:nope:
