Russian Ratsnake tremble or pulsates

I know this is corn snake forum but there is very little info on Russian rat snakes. I wish there was more info out there cause they are awesome. I hope you all don't mind me asking here.
3 foot russian ratsnake presume female will be wrapped around my arm, hand and almost like pulsate her body or tremble, hard to explained. She will do it 4 or5 times then not do it for a whil then again. She has done this periodically in the 2 years I've had her, got her as a hatchling, aspen bedding, no respiratory issues, no sneezing or discharge, eats every week, she is active, never been bred, I'm really curious to what the cause would be, she seems otherwise healthy. Thanks

sounds like an allergy to me.. idk try changing the bedding? the reason i wonder that is that what your describing sounds like the snake is itchy.. could be caused by mites.. take my thoughts with a grain of salt.. literally 1 grain.. as i have not had any experience with vet stuff and i only own one snake.. i just know that my snake often does something like this soon after shedding. i've always assumed my snake was itchy with the new skin being extra sensitive to touches..

Thanks for the reply but fortunalely or unfortunately depending how you look at it she isn't scratching, she can be with her head and a few inches past not touching anything and doing it.

Yes I suppose twitching would be a better way to describe it. Are you emplying horny snake lol? I thought about one of my male corns breeding behavoir which come to think of it was sorta similar. As for handling other snakes prior to her Nope I handle her more then the rest of my snakes she would be the first that I take out and usually wash up in between out of habit.

It's either a mating behaviour, or a warning/aggression sign.

She either wants to be put down, or likes being picked up *very much*!!

I would only worry if the shaking effected her as a whole vrs her making the movements herself. As for breeding behavior however, I have females and even if u rub them, touch them, pick them up they start the mating "twitch" but this is only around the breeding season and with super horny snakes.

My Russian rats would do a similar thing from time to time. I don't think there's any cause for alarm. It seems to be something they just do.

Good to know and dionythicus dont u think they should be more popular? This is the most curious and outgoing snake that I own, I really can't believe they are not common in pet trade and very little info on them

I loved mine but just sold them. I do wish they would be more popular. They are the most actively curious snake I've ever known. They want to be in your business. LOL
