So heres the story. last evening we're all sitting around watching a bit of TV before heading to bed and Sa (our 06 anery female) is surfing the front of the viv seemingly checking us out. She is so unlike Holly (our 06 amel female) who keeps to herself and could care less whats going on outside of her viv.
So I open the viv and Sa comes right up lickery split into my hand as if she wants out. We hold her for a bit as usual and I go to put her back and change her water and then close the lid. Bout an hour and a half later my wife and I are still awake upstairs and she goes to the bathroom and turns on the upstairs hall light and Meeboo (our parakeet) starts flying around in her cage having a hissy. The wife asks me to check on her and Im reluctant telling her the light coming on probably spooked her (shes right at the bottom of the stairs in the living room and right above the Vivs) but decide to check on her anyway. I get to the bottom of the stairs and shes still freaking out and for good reason. Sa is out of the viv and 1/2 way through the bars of Meeboo's cage at the bottom. :eatsmiley :licklips: My heart sank. I dont think that Sa would have been able to eat Meeboo as shes bigger than a mouse and Sa isnt big enough to handle a full size mouse but nonetheless it was heart sinking.
I pulled her out with no trouble, she was just curling around my hand as usual like "hey whats up, cant sleep either eh? wanna watch some TV?" I check her viv and lo and behold when I changed the water and put her back I failed to latch the lid. closed it and latched and now have a dowel in the lock so that it cannot be opened.........:grabbit:

I didnt sleep and kept going downstairs to check the viv and make sure it was latched and locked. It has an integrated lid on the top with built in latches and all and I really like it but nonetheless still was a bit worried

WOW! You are lucky your wife went to check on the bird. That is scary and shows how fast a corn snake can and will escape.

Good thing you caught the snake in time. I will have to be extra cautious with mine i have 2 love birds and 4 guines snake snackage :)
