I don't post here much, and I don't really know anyone here, but I have to share. Our family received a huge blow this week. My niece's daughter, who will be 3 this summer, has been sick for months. Trouble sleeping, crying, swollen face, and doctors kept saying nothing could be found wrong. As it turns out, she has ALL leukemia. This little trooper is on chemo, and her parents (for those of you who are religious or spiritual) desperately want prayers. Her name's Nieva. (The Spanish word for It's Snowing). Thankfully this cancer has a high rate of cure/remission, but that doesn't make this any less scary, and this family's and little girl's lives are forever changed. Hospital stays, treatments, needles and doctors, it's scary for most adults let alone a toddler. Two years ago, we attended the funeral of a family friend's 5-year-old who succumbed to brain cancer--we've seen what this vicious disease is capable of.
I also don't know if this is considered appropriate, but I can leave a link for anyone with a few dollars to donate for medical expenses. It ain't cheap to get sick, sadly.
If it's not appropriate, please accept my apology. But I have no shame when it comes to this precious girl. We're just utterly devastated but are hopeful for a full recovery. Prayers, good energy, sharing her name/story with others, whatever you can and would be willing to do is beyond appreciated.
