saliva discharge

I was handling Wraith today, I see a round lump under his mouth, but it doesn't seem like a big deal because it keeps receding.
Then suddenly he starts drooling all over me. A bunch of saliva came out of his mouth. Has anyone had this happen before? He seems alright, but I just made a vet appointment in case he's developing some sort of mouth rot.

Is he going to shed soon? One of my corns did this a few times and I was freaked out at first. I thought it was a tumor. But it went away within a minute or so after shedding. Then the next time she shed I made sure to watch the whole process. I noticed that she would come out and drink a ton of water and it would cause the lump. Then she shed and I picked her up. But when I picked her up the water just poured out of her mouth all over me.

Sometimes it's a big lump and sometimes it's small. Here is a big one. Did it look something like this and did it go away after the liquid came out? If so it may just have been water. But if you are worried you can take the snake to the vet.

My boa did that to me once. I figured that he must have taken a recent drink because there was no mucous or wheezing. A vet appointment will always calm your mind though.

Our kingsnake has done this while she is going through shed and being handled at this time - we have been told that it is not only a response to shed but also a natural predatory response - we have not experienced this with our corns...
