sand to aspen

I just made the move yesterday after some good advice from a few people on this forum and it all ready seems to be paying off. My humidity went up, very slightly, but up. Also I was worried before about not having a hot and cold side to my viv, it was all hot. Now it seems the aspen brought my temps down a little so I am now using my lamps and have one side at 75.2 degrees and the other at 81. Finally seem to be getting my stuff together lol. Im also pretty excited theres a reptile show coming to my area next month. I may even buy another corn. Once again thanks for all your help.

Good move. Although I know a few herpers who use sand, I think aspen is much better. Especially for corns. Some species do well on sand, but it can be unforgiving for a newbie.

The sand was just a pain because it kept the humidity down too much which caused a pain in the butt shed. The aspen didnt raise it a tremendous amount, but when misted it made a much bigger difference while with the sand it would change but return to normal soon after.

I was told by a local pet shop that sand can get in-between the scales of corns and cause irritation. They said that only desert type reptiles are suited for sand. True or false? Just curious, I would never use sand anyway, it appears to be messy.
