Scampi (het Hypo/Lavendar/Motley) was bred to Krang (Hypo Lavendar Motley). This morning, she laid a 16 egg clutch (9 Good/7 Slugs)....

Congrats on the clutch but I second Blutengel's question, seems like the eggs kinda rolled around after they were laid. I know it's personal preference but the layboxes worked perfect for my girls.

yeah laying boxes are a definite must. however i have some females that just pushed them aside, and in the morn i found them curled around eggs on the plastic, beside the lay box! congrats on the clutch.

Thank You :) That`s only one of the reasons that I don`t use layboxes. I actually answered the question on another thread and really just didn`t want to open the proverbial can of worms....LOL

There was a post recently where someone linked a post by the owner of this site, who found out that in optimal conditions all females lay their eggs a couple of day earlier then the average ten days after shedding. I'm curious how long your girls take from shedding to laying on average? Without higher humidity circumstances for laying are not optimal as far as I know. I have bred about 25-30 clutches now I think, that's really not much but I never had a female not using the lay box.

I`ve not hatched as many Corn Clutches as You. All of our snakes are kept at the proper temp & humidity for that particular type of snake. Most are kept in tubs with Aspen bedding & misted daily. The shortest Time I`ve recorded between shed & lay is 6 days & the longest was 9 days. Most of mine have laid on their 7th or 8th day. So far this year we have...
Bindi- 9 days
Crush- 8 days
Scampi- 9 days

BTW- We just acquired Scampi & her Beau (Krang) Jan. of this year. From what I`ve learned from her previous owner, I am thrilled to have 9 good eggs. In the past, she has refused to breed at all and then when she did, she slugged out. So, I am very happy with her.

OK, so they don't seem to postpone the laying because they don't have access to an extra humid egg laying box, interesting at least. Though if you mist the corn's tubs every day the humidity probably is higher then the average in general.
