Screen or closed top

I looked on the FAQ and did a quick search but couldn't find an answer. Do most people use normal screen tops for their corn's vivs? I have seen some mention of covering part of it (or maybe using a glass or plastic top?) to increase humidity/ambient temperature. I have a screen top, should I think about making any modifications? I am using a UTH set at 90F on the glass, ambient temp is 68F and humidity in the room is pretty low: 30-40%.

The temps are real close to what you want.
What are you using to measure them with??
And whats the humidity IN the Viv??

You could close off half the top with ...ahh.. plastic wrap but you should have proper thermometer with probe and a hydrometeor in the Viv first.

I have an indoor/outdoor thermometer/hygrometer with a remote probe stuck to the glass bottom above the UTH and under the aspen substrate. I measured the humidity in the viv and right now it's 35%. My rheostat's at about 1/3 so I have room for adjustment either way on the temp.

Is your house heated with hot air heat. ??

But I think.....if you just mist the cage or add a humid hide during the shed cycle, the snake should be fine.

When I first got my snake she was housed in a viv with a screen top. We misted when she started blue and did not have any shed problems. When I got a hygrometer I found her viv to be just under 40%.
