What sort of sense of space do cornsnakes have?
I ask because my snake (4 months) spends a lot of time on his branches, with his head cruising around the top of the screen. Mostly around the edges of the screen. Does he sense that there is more space out there? Can he feel different air currents? Right now he is on a branch, reaching out as far as he can go, his 'upper body' totally rigid as he reaches out to poke the screen. Is this some desire to escape from the tank, or is he curious because he knows that there is more space that he can't get to? (He's not trying to get out because he's uncomfortable- the temps are good on both sides, humidity, etc. and he's also not hungry- just ate yesterday.) This is pretty regular behavior for him, so I'm just curious. Do your snakes spend a lot of time investigating ways to get to the space outside the tank? How do they percieve the space they're in?
