Seperating one tank into two habitats

My dil is giving me a 40-gallon tank that she used for her ball python; is it possible to make that into two seperate enclosures for two different snakes?
It may be a ridiculous question, but I thought I'd ask! It's a great tank, but waaay too big for a hatchling, right?
Thanks for putting up with my newbie questions!

You can get a piece of plexiglass or glass and size it to split it down the middle. Then get a sealant, cheap enough from the pet shop, and just glue it right in. You can put a large heat pad in the center so that the warm spot is in the middle of the whole tank for both internal smaller tanks.

I divided my big cages with styrofoam (like the construction kind) and Great Stuff expand foam. It worked great. I used quickrete concrete to make the styrofoam look like a natural wall too.

Yes, it can be done no problem really but....make sure they can climb over the divider (lid/screen) to the other side.

edit: make sure they can't climb over.

Do you have any pics?I have a 55 gal sitting here doing nothing and thought about doing something like this.

The insulation foam (EPS) is great, it's easy to cut, lightweight and cheap. You can glue it using (aquarium-approved) glass silicone.

This worked. You'd want to put some weight in the middle or you'll eventually come to find cohabers.
