If a hatchling/young corn is probed by an experienced "expert" will the sex be for certain? If not, when are they old enough to be completely sure?

I've studied enough pictures to tell the difference between the two, but I've never worked up enough courage to try popping them for the first time by myself. I've read the procedures and viewed the illustrations and pictures, but I'd really hate to hurt any snakes in an attempt to determine their gender. My two adults I took to the store I bought them at after they were several months old and the guy there just looked at the tails and told me correctly. Might have been blind luck or experience for all I know, but he was correct.

Sexing adults by their tail, while not 100%, is pretty darn close.
