Sexing my corn

Snakes&Scapulars

New member
I want to know if there is a reliable (and simple) way to sex a corn snake. I know about probing and popping, but I don't want to injure him/her and s/he isn't a hatchling anymore. I know that it isn't necessary to know unless I am planning on breeding but I am curious. Also it would be nice to know. Thanks in advance!

If you can find someone to probe it that would be the most reliable way.

Otherwise you can attempt to visualize it...which is not completely reliable. In males, the snakes tail stays wider for the first couple inches after the cloaca before tapering off. In females, the tail tends to taper off immediately after the cloaca.

In that case my last few corns were girls and I have a boy! COOL! THank you so much!

If they're hatchlings, get them popped. If they're older, get them probed. These are the only reliable methods for sexing. If you are uncomfortable doing it yourself, you can probably find someone in your state to show you how to do it (or simply just do it for you).

Yeah, I'll probably just ask someone else to do it. I wouldn't want to hurt my baby! He is not a hatchling anymore (I think) he is like nine months. I saw a video of someone popping an adult and it worked. But I am just scared to hurt him. Thanks for the info!
