Sexing snakes

I have been trying to "pop" some new hatchlings and I havent seem to have mastered it. I did what Kathy says in her book and one of the snakes popped for like a second. I'm sure I have more than 1 male out of six snakes. With the snakes belly up I'm using my right thumb on top and index finger under pressing down gently and moving from the tail to the vent.

Am I doing something wrong?

I figured I would have someone show me how to pop and I took that male that I was able to pop to a reptile store and they couldn't get him to pop. I figured I would take a known male so I would know if they did it right and learn the way they did it. They said that they usually only pop pythons and larger snakes after they failed to get him to pop. On the phone they told me this guy was the "expert" popper. They said Corns only pop when they feel like it. Sounded like bs to me. Anyways I just fed them all last night so I will let them all chill out.

He recommended I get some probes, but I am determined to learn how to pop :crazy02:

i personally doubt that corns only pop when they feel like it. I have popped my male only about three times, but each time it worked i wasn't using the very tip of my finger, but rather closer to my first knuckle. It was probably just luck but give it a try anyway =)
