Shed on tip of tail

Cyrus shed last night! YEAH!!

Anyway, about a week or so ago, I did something terrible! I put him in his tupperware and placed the lid on it so I could weigh him and when I pulled him out I realized I snapped his itty bitty tail in the lid. I wanted to :puke02: when I saw it, I felt so bad. Anyway, I got it good, real good. Over the next few days I guessed he would lose the tip on his next shed. It got really dark in color and kinda hard. Initially he wouldn't let me touch it, but after a few days I think it quit hurting.

So, now he has shed and the shed is stuck to that part of the tip. I have him in a bath right now (he hates it). What do I do if it won't come off because of the problem with the tail previously?

Also, do I take his humid hide out now or do you guys just leave it in there all the time? He never went in it unless I put him in there, then he would chill there until he saw me walk off.....then the stinker would come out and go into another hides (I would hide behind the corner and watch, he did it everytime). I plan to offer the humid hide upon every shed regardless, but I just didn't know if I should leave it in there or take it out!

Thanks all!

if you leave the shed on the tail... it can become infected or every time he sheds, the shed will just keep getting stuck on the tail and eventually choke the tail so no blood flow can get through and the tail tip will eventually fall off... thats what can happen... so i'd just soak the guy wether he likes it or not and work the shed off each and every time...

It sounds like he's going to lose the tail tip anyway, but I would still be careful to get the shed off. You can remove the humid hide since he doesn't like it. I have two that love theirs so much I just leave them in all the time- just let them dry out in between sheds.

Hi Guys!

Thanks for the replies! Cyrus went for a swim for about 30 minutes and as I was working on the tip to remove the shed his tip came off with it! I feel bad for causing that to happen, but I am happy that the tip finally came off. There is one more spot were there is a "cut" in the tail from the Tupperware incident, I don't know if he will lose that part or not. If he doesn't I will probably have to wrk the shed off that spot from now on (it's a pretty good indention).

So, the tip is gone and the shed is all off now so should be OK! He is a handsome devil!! I put him back in his viv to relax a bit since he had to swim for a while!

Oh and FYI: the shed came of in virtually one piece, except the last 1/4. I think that broke apart when it was stuck to his tail. Also, oddly enough his tail was in a little knot. Poor guy, but I got it undone and everything seems ok now!

Thanks again!
