I need some advice from all of you snake breeders out there. I have everything ready for my hatchlings. But I have one more quick question. Please explain if needed.
Do you separate the babies before or after shedding? Why?
I separate the hatchlings as soon as possible. I left a few clutches together one year until after they shed and ended up with a case of cannibalism. Never again.

I plan on leaving them together until they shed, but since I am home all the time and won't be able to keep away from them for more than a few minutes (lol) if I notice any issues I will separate immediately.
I separate as soon as possible only because I incubate in large containers and usually have more than one clutch of eggs in a bin. I divide the 6 quart shoe boxes into 2 or 3 sections depending on the number of eggs in the box. The clutches are never laid on the same day so there is no chance of mixing up babies just the same.
