Shedding Issues

Hi i have a 48 inch Common Corn and he just recently started the process of shedding his eyes turned blue than normal again it has been 48 hours since they changed back and there is no sign of him shedding plus he won't eat. tank Perimeters: Hot Side= 85.5 degrees Cool Side= 75 degrees Humidity= Moderate 45%. is there anything i'm doing wrong. as far as the shedding problem and is him not feeding part of the shedding problem? Please need help and i'm worried i have only had him for 1 month.

Quite often, snakes do not want to eat when they are blue. I don't worry about little babies skipping a meal; I certainly wouldn't worry about a big guy like yours choosing not to eat.

Are you sure he's a male? After a male snake reaches sexual maturity, he will often go on a feeding strike in the late winter/early spring when his hormones are telling him to search for a mate. This can last weeks to months. So be ready for that, too! I just offer food at the regular feeding, and if the snake refuses, I skip the next feeding, and offer again on the third scheduled feeding, until he starts up again. You can often tempt him into breaking the hunger strike by offering a smaller-than-normal meal. If you have been watching his weight, you will see that this generally doesn't result in much weight loss. (Just something for you to be on the look out for, this spring!)

thank you i will keep this in mind while i am watching him hopefully he's just trying to find a mate. thank you so much nanci for all the help.

Glad to hear he's shed! I know I was so worried when I had my first corn! I though he'd neeeever shed! Then I learned patience is the key...(though I still kind of worry from time to time). ;}
