Shedding or just paranoid mama?

I've had my little guy for 2 1/2 weeks now. He's eating well, super sweet. This morning he was acting a little off, jumpy, so I left him be. I'm expecting he should be shedding soon, so I made up a humid hide for him and put it in. He took about an hour and then was in it. However, he isn't darker, if anything he's lighter and his belly was super shiny before I put the hide in. The rest of him looked normal, if a bit lighter than regular color, more red, but the belly was really shiny, like a freshly cleaned floor or something. He wasn't wet (I checked to make sure) He's been in his humid hide for about half an hour now. Apparently he needed it, even though he has water readily available, I wanted to make sure I was giving him everything he needs. Am I just being overly worried about when he's going to shed? I'm assuming he wouldn't go into the humid hide unless he needed it, but are there any other factors that I should be aware of? The shiny belly is throwing me off!
Thanks in advance!

Sounds like you are doing everything right. The shiny belly, well I've never noticed on mine so I can't help you there. If the colors are brighter, could he have already shed and the shed is buried in the substrate or something? Usually the will cloud over then clear up. Maybe he just likes the humid hide better.

I was putting one of mine in its feeding box thinking the colors were kind of flat. I came back to see if he ate and not only had he eaten, he had started shedding too.

There's no shed in the enclosure, I actually cleaned it out this morning because he soiled it :\ He's out moseying around now, so probably just paranoid mama :) He most likely shed prior to the expo when I got him and I'm just a worry wart! He hasn't clouded at all, he's situated near my desk so I spend a good part of the day looking at him when he's out and I haven't noticed. As long as he's happy and not anything else going on I'm happy!

My EO is out right now and has a very shiny belly and a translucent looking head (at times). The Amber has the same shiny belly and glossy head. The ghost and RO do not. I came on here to do a search and figure out the signs (so I don't feed them if they are close!).
