Shedding Problem

My corn snake seems to be having a problem with shedding. Every time he sheds and I take out his skin to throw it away, the tail end never sheds! Everytime I have to get a damp piece of tissue and take it off him myself.

Is there anyway to stop this? The humidity in my snakes vivarium is usually around 40-50%. Is this enough? I have his water bowl in the cold side of the vivarium, should I move it to the warm side to increase humidity or what?

Thanks ;)

Yes , you could give that a try and or make a humid hide for him. Use a small container that as big as his hide (use butter container) cut a hole in it for and entrance and place damp moss in it. I use sphagnum moss . I also just place damp moss under his hide, a bed per say, for him to crawl in and out. Just one way or two of many.

Good Luck

I have the same problem. We only keep up the humidity when she goes into blue. Her first shed was flawless. In fact we are going to frame it in a shadow box..LOL.

Her second shed wasn't as nice. It was in two pieces, and the little end of the tail is still on her. We have moistened her, hoping it would ease off when she slithered through a towel, but no luck.

Her temps are good..she feeds very well. I'm hoping it will just come off on it's own.
