Shedding skin

When i first got Narla her first shed was absolutly perfect no tears and no breakage in the shedded skin. Ever since then each shed she has had has been quite messy and some of her skin stays on. Is there anything that maybe causing this?

It's usually due to low humidity. Next time you see her going "blue", put a humid hide in with her. That's just a plastic tub (like a sandwich box or something), with the lid on it and a hole big enough for her to crawl into. Half fill it with damp moss, damp vermiculite or even damp paper towel.

She can then spend time in there making sure that her old skin is in the right condition to shed in one piece. If it dries out, then you tend to get the patchy sheds.

I'm sure there are other potential causes, But I'd say lack of humidity is the most likely culprit.

A moist hide is a great idea, as previously suggested. There are a couple of other things you can do to increase the humidity in the viv. You can put a towel or something similar over part of the ventilation area to reduce evaporation. (Just make sure you don't accidentally get your temps too high that way.) Placing the water bowl over the UTH increases evaporation, and puts more water vapor in the air. Yet Another option for increasing the humidity is to put a couple of moist cotton balls in the viv. Take action when you first notice your snake in a shed cycle. Let us know how the next shed turns out.

Just wondering, how are you dealing with the rough patches from prior sheds?
