I tend not to handle my snakes when they are in shed. They tend to be more moody and jumpy. I figure it's less stressful for them to just leave them alone since they can't see as well.
Wasted food, mainly, as some snakes will not take their mice when in blue. My snakes are a little crazy and stay active even when in blue, climbing around and looking for food as they always do around feeding day, so I just feed them regardless ^^
I have also fed my red eyed guy while he was blue. I weigh before every meal and still missed it. Only to notice as he was grabbing for the mouse. Regurge is the biggest concern, but shedding in pieces was a problem for me once. I guess because the old layer of skin didn't have any stretch to it or something.
