First off I want to say if this in the wrong place I'm sorry and will re-post elsewhere. My Amel Slevin just left me a fresh shed...(I was jumping up and down) this is his second shed that I know if the pet store said they all had their first shed and now I came home to a fresh shed this evening. I was wanting to know if I can get a rough estimate of his age after this shed if there is a specific time that they shed or if its just when they out grow the old skin?

From my limited experience, I've come to believe it depends on the snake. I seen some shed monthly and mine shed about 6-8 weeks. I'm sure some of the site "experts" will be of more help.

It's dependent on a number of things, such as any injury to the skin will cause a shed sooner, but usually a young snake will shed every month, maybe a little more, and as they get older the time stretches out to an adult snake who may only shed 2 or 3 times a year. It's really variable I've found. The Snake's measurements would give a better idea. Though most snakes are hatched during the same time of year, I believe it's September. One of the breeders would know better.
