sheding problems

For the last week my snake has looked like that it was wanting to shed. the skin was dull and the eyes were coverd. it turnd blue..so I thought that shedding was near like normal. Anyway, the yesturday, the eyes were uncoverd, and under the body, they black "checkerbord" was no longer dull. It apeard normal, along with most of its body. this sonds normal, right? wrong.

if the snake "shedd", then whres all the skin laying around the cage like normal? the snake is not as color full as normal after it sheds, and its not as dull as it was a few days ago...so is this some kind of partial shed? could there be something wrong with it? I tryed feeding it a few days ago, severl days in a row, like normal ( I know most snakes dont like to eat while they are shedding but mine has never had a problem with it, its always went after food as if it wernt) but it refused f/t food. for several strait days. then I went out and bought a live fuzzy...it didnet seem to know what to do with the mouse until after it died..anways, it ate the etreemly fresh killed mouse (about 10 min after it died).

so whats wrong with the shedd?

p.s. yes, i killed the moust...by ACSIDENT! I picked it up with the tweezers to hard to try to tease the snake, and kept puting it in its face, but then once i did that, i realised i was picking it up by the neck, and i broke it, and it died a few min later....oops.

also, 1 more thing..

the snake keeps wanting to stay on the cold side of the cage. especly at night...the temp on the wram side is 84. and at night whn the lights go off, heating pad still on, the basement gets to be about 65 *...but it still prefers to stay there....thats very unusual for it considering in the morning i normal find it on the warm side...

Sounds like your snake is in the stage after blue, where it clears up and appears almost normal, but hasn't shed yet.

The snake knows what temperature it needs to be at. As long as you have an appropriate temp range, he will choose the temp he likes.

Your snake has not shed yet. The normal process is that it gets blue, then it clears up again, then it sheds again in about a week.

Please don't try feeding your snake several days in a row. This can condition him to refuse food. Even if your snake normally doesn't refuse while in blue, he can start doing that at any time and it's best to respect his wishes. If he refuses, wait at least 5 days before offering again, or if he's shedding, wait until the day after he sheds.

And, when offering the food, don't shake it in his face. This can make him afraid of his food. If you feel you must touch him with it (which isn't necessary), touch his body with it.

The snake will decide if he wants to be hot or cold, so don't worry too much about that. What are you measuring the temperature with and where? You need to measure it directly on the glass above the UTH with a probe-type thermometer. If you are measuring it any other way, you might be getting a wrong reading and the temp is actually higher than you think and so the snake is choosing the cooler side.
