Shipping from the US to Canada....

MegF.

That's for sale???
Does anyone have information on shipping snakes from the US to Canada? I have had snakes go to Canada before but I shipped them to someone in the US who drove them into Canada. At the time all that was required was documentation from myself saying that they were captive born and bred by myself (company name given) and when they were produced. I've never shipped directly to Canada though. Any info would be appreciated...

It depends on the species. Check if they are listed on CITES appendices. Depending on which appendix they are listed, they may be restricted or require permits. There is lots of info about this on reptiles Canada, just search for it.

Amazon tree boa.....I did look it up....all I could find was that some needed CITES.....the Canada whatever that I looked up that handles it mostly puts about protecting within the state. Nothing about importing reptiles.....

That thread covered bringing in a snake over the border by vehicle. I'm trying to ship via air directly to Canada. I shipped some cornsnakes to Canada via someone that was going over the border. I'm not doing that this time. And I'm not shipping a cornsnake. When I looked up shipping snakes to Canada I found some basic information but when I went to the Canadian website for the government body that handles that, it didn't have information on who to contact or what forms are needed except to mention CITES certs. Most of the information I could find there was for people shipping OUT of Canada or collecting in Canada...not shipping something TO Canada.

You have to have a US permit to export, aside from the Canadian regulations. It's easiest to go through a company that handles all that.

Not sure it's worth the trouble and cost...that would be up to the guy up there....if he wants to pay for it, he can buy it....I sent a message to Tom Crutchfield as he does a lot of export to see if he had any thoughts...haven't heard back yet.
