Hello. I am a new snake owner and would love some advice from all you wise ones!! I bought an amel in June this year and its thriving. I am now wanting another one, in particular a bloodred. Is it o.k. for me to get another one now to co-habit with my existing one??? I know i will have to feed them separately, but i'm just worried how they will get on together. Will await replys in great anticipation. Thanks. :)

Personally I wouldn't recommand anyone putting 2 snakes together.

There are just way too much risk than benefit.

This is why we really don't want to put them together....

(that post was by Clint Boyer, at least a thread that I just saw today....)
We basically see these photos every year...
so basically there is a risk of one eating another, tranferring diease to one another, stress, and all kinds of things.

Hope this helped....

Thank you so much for answering. I knew corns were prone to eating one another, but was told it happened when there was a substantial size difference or feeding together. Thanks for helpful adivce. Will be arranging separate homes. :)

It is a risky situation, in my case i guess i got lucky. My 2 corns have been sharing the same space for 7 months and ive never had a problem (knock on wood). Simon's right though, better not to chance it.

As long as they are the same size, and feeding sepreatly, it really shouldnt matter; at least that's what Shawn Lockhardt (yeah i know thats not spelled right) told me when i got my 2 corns; but I wouldnt know from experience.

Regarless of what you choose, be carefull with deseases. I would advice to at least keep them seperate and keep the new one in quarantine untill your sure he/she is desease/parasite free. To not infect your old corn.

Thanks for all of your advice guys. Much appreciated.
I got my bloodred a couple of weeks ago and he is settling in lovely in his own little home.
I would show pictures of both of my babies, but have not worked out how to reduce size of photos yet on this computer. I have been trying!!
Got to say though.......he is a fantastic bloodred hatchling with a pure white belly, wicked grey markings and skull on his head!! :crazy02:

Wow, that snake sounds incredible!! Do you have Adobe Photoshop? If not, maybe you could email me a picture or two and I could shrink 'em if you want.
