So I'm talking to one of our clients the other night at work who brought in their young cat for boosters. The topic of snakes came up. They mentioned that they had an "adult" corn snake they had bought for their 8 yr old son and they were looking to re-home it. Apparently it had taken a bite at their son and he was no longer interested in it. They have no idea what sex it is but its apparently an amel. The mother says it eats a mouse every week and she'd be willing to take $20.00 for it.

I COULD fit ONE MORE into my brood. But at this point, I wasn't really thinking of adding any more snakes to my collection. I already have 2 amels. She says its an adult but I'm thinking by the size estimation she gave, it could be more like an older juvenile.

Should I take a look???? Should I even consider this snake???? I was thinking for going over and taking a look after Christmas maybe taking some pics. I'm really on the fence on this. I could be pushed either way.

Will you want that one last space for some critical breeding genes somewhere down the road? Eventually, even if your house doesn't fill up, your time does. If you go look you're getting a Christmas snake!

Actually I was just doing some heavy thinking while mucking stalls about my snake plans. I really wanted to do some breeding this year. Draconia's sure eager to loose her virginity, all the slugs she's been laying! But all my boys are a little young to do the "big nasty". Better to wait a year and let them mature and let me prepare better. I have no place to put babies----yet! No retostat for hibernation, no incubator. The market on amels is really soft. What am I really doing considering breeding THIS year?
What's the rush?

An unplanned Christmas snake. Hmmm that really gives me the heebie-jeebies. I already have a Thanksgiving/Christmas kitten!

Nanci,

"Napalm's got to be big enough!!"

Yes, but should a teen-aged boy really be having sex with a cougar?????;)

In the world of cornsnakes, I think there is some grade school kid x cougar interaction going on!!!

He's going to be two! The daddy of the bloodred stripe clutch I bred in 2011 was two.
