I have a choice to make and i need help! i can get proven breeder pair for $90 or wait and get one male at the expo here? in the proven breeder pair the male is amel the female is bloodred and they come with a whole set up i know its a good deal but could i find a nice colored male at the expo?

It's so hard for me XD

well is this deal off craigslists? if so id be weary. and why get a proven breeder pair unless you plan on breeding them. i see your 17, so you might be going to college right. i say focus on your studies and not on breeding snakes. its more work than most think. and at an expo youll find amazing animals for amazing prices. just gotta keep your eyes open.

Well i do plan on going to college but my father and sister are going to take care of them when i go. I dont plan on breeding anytime soon but i have though about it.

My sister and father have ball pythons they will be fine my sister also has a Sumatran blood python so my snake will be in great care. :D

If you haven't tried breeding before purchasing a proven pair is the way to go. Even if it is not exactly what you were looking for it is the way i started and it prepares you for further breeding of more complicated species. The pair is pretty common and should have a high fertility rate, so i would take the deal, the monetary reward and fun easily outweigh the work. Also, you said the deal included everything, but does it include and incubator? If not, i would recommend getting one. It takes all the work out of keeping the eggs healthy. If you know how, you can get more fertile eggs if you use a self-made incubator, but this is not a good idea if you are new to breeding. Try to get a hovabator. Sold by most reptile shops and pet stores, and the most reliable, too.

Something i forgot: When breeding, it doesn't really matter if you are there are not, you just need a reliable person to keep an eye on the incubator, and to move the eggs to it once they have been laid. Try to do this yourself though, because you mustn't tilt the eggs or change their position, it can kill the babies. Try to just pick them all up in one big pile.

I would go get a hatchling.. For your first snake.. I think it'd be cool to watch your own snake grow.. JMO

I bought the proven breeders and the female is very under weight so im gonna get her up to weight and nice and health, The male is huge! im assuming that the female layed eggs not long ago cause she is small. Will post pic in the photo forum soon.
