Hey. I'm seriously considering building my own rack to house some babies I purchased and I'm interested in seeing what everyone elses racks look like. Built and purchased. Pleaseeee post some pics for me? Thanks a bunch.

This is a medium contico rack I use mainly for yearlings/smaller subadult corns (and hognoses, young pythons, etc - it has a few separate thermostats to each part can be heated to a different specification). Each tub is 39 x 28cm, and 13.5cm high.

I also have a rack made to the same sort of spec, which is large contico boxes (51 x 39cm, and 15cm high). That houses most of my royals. Both of these were made by Winracks

The hatchling rack is a bookcase I bought from Ikea, rear heated. It holds two different sizes of tub. The smaller ones (pictured) are 18.5cm x 12.5cm and 7.5cm high. The larger ones are interstackable with the small tubs, and measure 24.5cm x 18.5cm x 7.5cm.

Most of the larger corns live in front opening 64 litre boxes, like this rack. Each box is 71 x 44cm, and 31cm high. Again this was made by Winracks. I love it - it's so nice not having to pick up and move each box to get in, which with me invariably ends up with spilled water bowls.

That's one of the adult boxes with the front open.

Link to Winracks - www.winracks.com - without wanting to sound like I'm being paid to advertise them, I love each and every rack we've had from him, they're excellent quality and good value for money.

Wow! I love those front opening boxes toyah. I also have plans to modify a bookcase for hatchlings.

Sadly, I'm still waiting on my rack... Grrr....

Home made rack

Here's the rack I made, as I'm currently using to hold 4 hatchlings in 12 quart sterilites:

Here's how I intend to use it once the 4 babies are big enough to move to the big 90qt bin I built the rack to hold without lids:

Notice I have space for 5 adults, but only 4 hatchlings... Hmmm... gotta go shopping!

If you're interested, shoot me a PM and I'll give you more details on how I built it. It's definitely more utilitarian and not 'furniture' quality.

How's this? . . . :sidestep:

Seriously, here you go . . .

Here's what I currently use:

I've since changed this one to hold Glad sandwich containers . . . I have added 4 shelves to it:

This one's an old one I no longer have:

Jim, your shed is the most amazing snake shed in the world. I need to come down and have a wee gander sometime... and bestow upon you many lavender hatchlings! LOL

We just finnished the new rack... I need to get some pictures of it later. But its amazingly huge LOL

Hm... lovin all the rack so far. I'm so psyched. I dunno if I'm more excited about seeing more racks, or starting my own!) Toyah, where did you get the plastic containers that you used for your hatchling rack? Those are exactly what I want to use. I had no idea everyone on here owned so many snakes and was so into breeding. That makes me happy. Haha

Don't know how I missed this, sorry. I know what you mean about the racks - I have always been the person buying new cages and things for my rodents, so it figures that I'm constantly on the hunt for new racks and things for the snakes!

The hatchling boxes came from Cornish Crispa - but they're actually made by Braplast in Sweden. I imagine they have a US importer though.

The 1.3 litre is perfect for tiny hatchlings, and then the 3 litre for when they're grown on a bit but not big enough for the "yearling" rack yet. But because of they way they're made, you can stack the different sizes together without covering the ventilation holes, and use the same shelving system for them.

Here are pics of part of my room from a couple months ago. The 16qt racks I can swap out for 32qts.

@ opal The Big Rotho Tubs (around 70cmx40cmx18cm) would be my minimum choice if i'd build a adult rack...

The Americans using smaller tubs too, but well...
