Show Us Your Bellies...!

Of your cornsnakes, that is! :nyah: Despite searching the photo and other forums, I find that not too many cornsnakes, regardless of morph have their ventrum shown. If it is, it is only partially displayed.

Many morph guides are also not helpful in this regard. I'm new to cornsnakes,
and for the majority of the morphs, I'm totally in the dark as to what to expect when the animal is flipped over on its back. Are there any guides that you are aware of which will either verbally or visually describe the belly patterns?

Thanks!

Dan

I have one snake I don't even have to ask! Ruby, bloodred stripe het snow:

Most people prefer to view the more colorful dorsal part of a snake, but you do get a few members that provide a belly photo or partial belly photo upon occasion (Roy Munson tends to supply a belly photo with each snake's photo session). I occasionally will try for some, especially if I find a particular snake's belly very appealing. I'll go through my photos to see if I can provide you with a variety.

I've been waiting to see one of these threads for a while. I love snake bellies! :)
Here's a picture of my Normal Motley's belly - at least part of it. He was pretty young in this one. :)

For many corn snakes, just a partial belly photo will give you the general idea of what the rest of the belly looks like.

Hypo snow
Hypo (suspect) bloodred
Normal partial aztec - reduced black lineage (proven not hypo)

Wow! Thanks for the photos. Quality photos are about as close as I'm going to get without actually having the animals in hand. All the ventrums displayed are pretty. I would assume that your Bloodred Stripe, Susan, is displaying the bleeding of colors on the belly as discussed in another thread... The same for your Bloodred, Nanci...

The bleeding is not objectionable, although I would prefer none if possibile or as little as possible. In your experience, will all these animals keep their present belly patterns, or will there be a further infusion of orange into the white?

This is wonderful... O.K., only about 150 morphs to go! :poke:

Thanks again.

I did not post, nor do I even own, a bloodred stripe, so I am not sure to which snake you are referring to.

Is that either an Amber or Gold Dust, Susan? That is a REALLY nice animal!

Again, I did not yet post an amber or a golddust, so which snake are you referring to? I did list in each post, in order, the morphs of the snakes I posted.

That is difficult to say. Most of these are adults, or close to it, so their coloration will probably not change much anymore, including the bleeding of color into the belly.

Of all the morphs with plain white bellies, the ones least likely to bleed would probably be the motleys and stripes, and of those, probably the stripes will bleed the least.

Ooops, sorry... I meant Nanci's bloodred stripe het snow, and I looked at the photo of the snow, not seeing the labeling, assuming it was another morph. My morph guide is fortunately in the mail!

I have to make it a point to attend a Reptile Show either in Europe this Spring or Summer or when I'm in Southern California in the Fall.

I forgot I still had some of the belly photos I took for the ACR. They are not the best, but are more full belly photos.

I am thoroughly enjoying this; thanks so much for your posts.

MinLynn... It appears that your Normal has basically a pure white and black checkered belly througout the snake's entire length with some yellow specks. Beautiful! Looks like an adult too. On Normals and Okeetees, I find the pure white and black belly checkering to be spectacular in the overall "look" of the snake! I like your Normal's size too. You're a lucky guy!

I now see why some of you have so many animals. This is an addictive hobby!

Here's my guy, but he's only 9 mo:

He's not too happy about being flipped, lol.

I'd be very proud to have a snake like that. B E A U T I F U L !!! I'd prefer to get one about that age too...

Thanks. Something that's not coming across is the kind of rainbow gleam you can see on the his belly when he's in the sun. Kinda something you need to see in person (or through a good photographer). Susan's anery pic a few posts up shows what I'm trying to describe.
