Shy snake

I'm getting flustered with Scarlet! She is always hiding until everyone is fast asleep, we get no chance to watch her. She is a great feeder, finished a perfect shed last Friday. She moves around a lot when we aren't around. New tunnels every morning, plus some days we find her in her warm hide and others she in her cold side or under her water dish.
I don't have a question nor am I worried about her at all. I'm just mad that I don't get to see her moving around.
So.... Grrrrr bad Scarlet:sobstory:

Fill up her viv with vines. Put silk stick-on vines on the sides and back. Take a green bendy vine and wrap it around a brown bendable stick vine. Form that into a serpentine shape and bend around the sides and back of her viv. Add a couple toilet paper tubes, squished flat. That way she can hide in plain sight!

Corn Snakes are naturally like that - they're active at times of low or no light, so they will tend to be out and about when you're asleep. She's not a bad girl - she's just doin' the Corn Snake thang!

However Nanci's suggestion will give you the best chance of seeing her. They're naturally inclined to hide away anyhow, as they're food for a large number of predators in the wild. The more ground cover and hides you give them, the safer they feel to move around the tank and - ironically - the more likely you are to see them.

Also, new arrivals can take a few months to gain confidence. Your lass is likely to get a little bit more brave when you're around as she grows up.

I would For sure take Nancies advice! I have only had my Sirius for a week, and he's just a 6,6 quart Sterilight bin, But I also had one of the small exo-terra suction cup vines laying in the middle of the bin witch gives him a lot of ground cover, and he's always out laying right in the open!

Aha, A little bit off topic, but Not.. Fish are the same way; If you find that your fish are always hidden away.. Add lots of plants and cover, and they will always be out! and showing their best colours too! .. I don't think the snakes colours will change any, but I do bet She'll come out more! ;)

Funny how animals work.. :D

I know that she's not bad, I'm just intrigued by her and want to see her as much as I can. I completely understand she's doing the 'snake' thing, just maybe a tad disappointed she not right where I can see her at all times ;)
Right now I have a water dish and wood climbing thing in the middle of the viv. A Lego hide (my son wanted to make her something special) and those silky leaves on her warm side. And then just a small cave hide for her cool side. I'm off to the pet store tomorrow for more pinkies so ill grab some vines for the cool side and add some toilet paper rolls in there too!
