Size question

I have seen a lot of different information on here and going off of that my guy is way small for his age. The info that I got from the breeder is that he hatched in Aug of 2012. He is currently 24" and 40 grams. He is very muscular and active and has eaten his first fuzzy since I got him this last weekend. I have seen some people talking about snakes that are 6 months younger that are way bigger than this guy. What is the average size range for a corn that is 21 months old??

They all vary so, so much. But I have to say that sounds pretty small. Can you post a photo?
My thought is either your scale is off (because you mention that he looks muscular to you) or he's not being fed enough. What are you feeding him?

At 21 months my female was around 250g, but she is (what I have been told) a good size for her age. However, I would expect an almost 2 yr. old to be anywhere between 175-350g. (that's just me though - I don't have nearly as much experience as the breeders on here!) 40g sounds really small to me...

My smallest 2012 is 176 grams, because he was fed a maintenance diet before I got him and then had some regurges in my care. My other two 2012s are 207 and 262. Honestly, your guy is actually quite a bit smaller than my 2013s, even. They are all above 100 grams now.

As long as he isn't skinny, I would continue to feed him the appropriate sized food for his weight at a 5 day interval.

This is a picture from last Wednesday. I have pretty big hands (I wear an XL in gloves).

Are you sure he's a 2012? As in, did you get him in 2012? I'm really skeptical. Again, what do you feed him? (Thank you for sharing the photo!)

The date on the breeders website said he was hatched 12 Aug of 2012. I fed him a fuzzy f/t as per the Munson chart.

I was told that the 2013 they had were approx. 18 inches. This guy is 24 inches.
He seems really healthy and is very active. Just curious because of what I have seen on here.

Aug 2012 would be almost 2 years now. That's definitely pretty small for a 2 year old snake, but they all grow at their own pace. Now that you have him on fuzzies you could actually expect quite a growth spurt.

Depending on where you got him from, some breeders feed very little so that the babies don't grow as fast and they will keep longer in a smaller enclosure. He could be a 2012

Agreed, sizes and weights are all over the place on corns. I had a 2 year old rescue at 75g and another 2 year old rescue at 800g. It all depends on what they were fed from day 1.

Nythain is right, many start an amazing growth spurt on fuzzies. As long as he is healthy (and he looks great, by the way!) that is all that matters now. If he starts to lose weight then it is a problem.
