Snake attack!

Remind me never to miss a feeding again...

I was just bringing Kira (red stripe) a mouse. Before i had a change to put it in the feeding bin, she *leaped* out, grabbed the mouse, and i felt a fang on my finger.
Now i'm quite prepared for agressiveness when i put my hand in the bin. Now however i was in complete suprise. She agressively strangled the mouse but let go before it was dead. After a few minutes stepped in to re-offer the mouse. As usual. However, she struck again. I was preperated this time so i pulled back and decided to give her the peace she wanted. She however went as far as striking at me through the side of the bin. I really had a hard time putting the lid back on the bin. I put a towel over the bin to calm her down.

And just think i was recently thinking i would like a snake with a bit of spice in it :D

Anyway, i guess she's just upset and will calm down eventually. I've never been struck at, except the very first day when i purchased my first snake and rearranged some things in the viv after i just put them in there. Kira gave me a little headbutt. Other then that all my snakes, except my yearling, are used to be hand-fed and extremely tame.

I'm a bit scared to re-introdice her to her cagemate now. Nandi has already eaten and is back in the viv. Should i just wait, let's say and hour or 2, before i put Kira with her? Or should i just put her back in the viv feeding basket and all for the night? I don't want any accidents happen. Should i give Kira the second mouse? Last thing i want is a pissed of, hungry snake on war path.

Hi Jicin,
I had a very similar experience with Mayzee when she was hungery, Personally I would feed her another but keep them seperated as long as you can if you have the facilities. We learn something new every day from our little friends. :)

No i don't really have the facilities. I just offered the second mouse. I used a clamp. She seems much calmer already. I'm glad she ate the first mouse.

And here's another one. Feisty little fellah. And it's not like she looks like shes starving :D

Well, i put her back. She wasn't agressive anymore thankfully. I had to lift her up... She was very eager to get away once i put her back in the viv. She's now on the other end of the viv then were Nandi is. I'll keep and eye on them for the rest of the evening but right now i think there both asleep. Phew.
