Snake mites

Hello all :)

I have a yearling corn who is my first ever snake. He seems to be doing very well ( apart from the fact I NEVER see him drink ) I have had him a month now. He eats well and handles well. I am trying to find out as much info as I can to try to prevent probs before they arise. My question / questions are on snake mites. I have not seen any on my snake but wondered if they can just spontaneously arrive even if your snake never had any from the start ? Are they inevitable in a way ? I will be keeping his viv spotless but wondered if this is likely to be an issue in the future. Many thanks.

Provent-a-mite. Cannot be sprayed directly on the snake, but if you follow the directions, you should never have a mite problem.

i only once had a mite problem and that was purely my carelessness, i brought some wood chips that hadnt been treated right (did not know at the time and did wonder why they were so cheap) however i treated the snakes with vegetable oil and the whole entire of their viv'sa nd kept them on paper for a couple of days, soaked all their logs, plant and whatnot in treatment, and they were all clear within 2 days. never ever have had a problem with them since, was just a one off and that was my fault. like chaoscat has said, take good care of them and keep them well and you'll never have a problem. :)
