I woke up this morning to find that my first corn had first shed, well shed while i've had him/her. I'm not sure if he either, still has a little on his back, or its damaged skin...
it really looks damaged scales to me, if it is, should i do anything?
and i heard that you could find out which sex the snake is by counting the scales, all of them or a certain part?

Ummm . . .

I can't tell you about the damaged scales myself, but did the entire shed come off in 1 piece? If there is shed still attached to your snake you can wet a paper towel and hold the snake in the towel and let it slither through it, that might help. I'm not sure what you would do for damaged scales.

As for counting the scales on the shed to determine the snakes sex, the jury is still out on that one for me. There is an entire thread devoted to that topic here: http://www.cornsnakes.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20400
Hopefully I will have news as to whether the count was accurate for my snakes or not within the next few days.

As Peep stated above, if it's just a poor shed you can wet some paper towels and have them crawl thru it, put in a moist hide, or soak them in a little water. If it's damaged scales, they will usually fix themselves after a couple of sheds unless they're really bad. My female had some damaged head scales. It resolved itself after 2 sheds.
