Snake went in the blue but not shed yet?

My snake's eyes turned blue ~2 days ago, and then went back to normal yesterday. I don't see an obvious shed lying in the tank, but I haven't gone looking under the aspen for it. He also doesn't look as bright as he did last time he shed (ghost though so his colors aren't extremely bright). Do their eyes go back to normal after going blue but before they shed? If so, how long until they shed? Thanks

This is how it goes

Snakes goes blue
Goes back to looking normal
Then Sheds its skin

"A corn snake in blue eyed or opaque state will be shedding it's skin in approximately 4 to 10 days" from Kathy Love's Corn Snake Owners Guide. Which I highly recommend to new owners. So expect it shed soon. Let us know how it goes :D

Oh, make sure the humidity level in the viv is good. You can also provide a "shed box" (box filled with moist moss or paper towels) for them after the blue has cleared (in your case ASAP) They can pack themselves into it and it usually helps them to shed. When you notice the snake rubbing it's head and neck on things in the viv, don't be alarmed. It looks like they are tweaking out but they are trying to loosen the skin to start the shed.

Just a scientifical explanation of the snake shedding or correct therm , Ecdysis:

the process of sheding starts before we can actually notice it, liquid is secreted in the layer between the epidermis and the the skin layer containing the scales. that liquid will start to digest the scale layer and in the meantime a new scale layer is growing underneath the liquid on the epidermis. when the new scale layer is fully grown, and the old scale layer is nearly all digested, thats when the snake is in the blue, Reason being the old layer is so thin and there's liquid in between that old layer looks transclucent. then the liquid is re absorbed by the snake body and the snake turns normal looking again, and whenever he wants he can shed the old nearly digested layer.

that explains why it becomes blue, why then turns back to normal before shedding.

Cheers, Also forgot to mention that the chemical is inactive untill the new scale layer surface is secreted by the epidermis.
