Snake won't eat

pretzel.snake

New member
Pretzel is now a bit over 180g, and is eating f/t medium fuzzies about every 9-10 days. That may be a little bit underfed but she was previously on small fuzzies and I didn't want to jump her from small to large.
She hasn't eaten in 12 days!!! I tried on the tenth day and again today, the 12th day, and I have no idea why!!
Any suggestions as to how to get her to eat, or any reasons why she isn't?
Thank you in advance for the help!

You can take this with a grain of salt -

But if I had a snake weighing 180 grams, I'd be feeding a 19 to 22 gram mouse every week (7 days).

As to why isn't your snake eating right now? It's hard to say, and probably nobody here can answer that.

There are reasons why a snake won't eat. 1). Snake is Brumating and not hungry (slow, sluggish, cold) 2). Incorrect cage temperatures, 3). Snake is trying to shed, 4). Snake is ill, 5). Something has changed recently and disrupted the snake's routine or surroundings and she needs to re-acclimate herself. 6). Breeding season and snake has breeding in mind. (Although it's probably not the case this time, breeding season is over and your snakes is probably too young to breed anyway.)

There may be other reasons as well.

Suggestion: Wait a week or two, see if the snake goes Blue or sheds, and then try to feed again. A snake can live a long time without food. If the snake does not eat and does not shed, then possibly you should suspect an illness and a trip to the vet may be required.
